Our dandelion dragonfly image is based on the art nouveau lithography work of Maurice Pillard Verneuil. As an artist, Verneuil was interested in themes related to the natural word and referenced in elaborate patterns, insects, birds, plants, animals and sea creatures in all of his work. His Art Nouveau style designs, influenced by the work of William Morris, were applied to wallpaper, textiles, stained glass and ceramics to wonderful effect. Although he was not well recognized in his own time, Verneuil’s work is popular today.
