Facing & Living the Big Questions of Life
"Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
David Lloyd George
This class is about courage & fear. It is about developing a structure of strength & connection within ourselves. We will approach this by observing our patterns of behavior & thought when fortitude is demanded of us, noticing which patterns are rooted in fear & which are centered in courage. Through discussion & specifically designed activities we will set about letting go of the negative patterns & embracing life-affirming ways of being.
Special emphasis will be focused on becoming able to face, accept & facilitate change in our lives. We will draw inspiration & guidance from the works of Mark Nepo, Stephen Covey, Eckhart Tolle, Kathleen Dean Moore, Wayne Muller, Robert Sardello, Derrick Jensen, David Edwards & others.
Topics will include:
~ Asking "How Shall I Live, Knowing I Will Die?"
~ Asking "What is my Gift to the Family of the Earth?"
~ Facing Fear
~ Letting go of Judgment, Opinion & Expectation
~ Forgiving
~ Opening to the Present
~ Accepting Impermanence
~ Finding our Connection to the Natural World
~Learning What Feeds our Heart
"I have come to believe that we can only discover the capacity & meaning of our courage in the context of our struggles, in how we face & inhabit the challenges life presents to us."
